What must I do to comply with the ACRES scheme?
Farmers must take proactive steps to comply with the ACRES scheme. Tranche 1 participants need to do all this by the end of the year to meet its requirements and get all the benefits of the scheme.
Here’s a handy guide to what you need to do:
- Conduct soil analysis: you must have conducted soil analysis since 1st January 2022—any results received before that date will not be valid.
- Adhere to sampling requirements: you must submit at least 1 soil sample per 5 hectares of land, up to 40 hectares. No individual soil sample should cover more than 5 hectares, which will all help provide an accurate representation of the land’s condition.
- Meet the extended deadline: due to adverse weather and challenging ground conditions, the deadline for submitting soil analysis results has been extended from May 2024 to 31st December 2024. This extension provides farmers with more time to collect soil samples and upload their results onto the ACRES online system.
- Upload results on time: you must upload your soil analysis results onto the ACRES online system before the 31st December 2024 deadline (Tranche 1 participants). This will ensure you will receive your payments on time. Missing the deadline could mean forfeiting the financial benefits of the scheme.
